The approach we use is based on our years of experience and clinical judgment.
All techniques are tailored to maximise results for each individual patient. We want you to relax, enjoy, and fully benefit from your chiropractic care.
What chiropractic techniques do we use?
Gonstead technique
Gonstead Chiropractic is named after its developer, Clarence Gonstead. It assesses your current state of health as well as your history of health.
In particular, our assessment will consist of things like:
- observing your posture and movement patterns
- examining areas of your spine
- X-ray analysis.
Through this kind of assessment, our Chiropractor, Dr Nicholas Armitage, can identify any issues, including:
- tender muscles
- tight muscles
- pressure on nerves or inflamed nerves
- how healthy your discs are
- swelling
- dysfunction in your spine.
Once this is complete, we’ll know if chiropractic techniques are likely to be able to help you.
At Hawthorne Chiropractic, we like to conduct a thorough evaluation using full spine X-rays and then make accurate adjustments in side lying and seated positions.
Diversified technique
Diversified is one of the most commonly used chiropractic techniques. It can be used to treat a variety of joints in the body, but is usually concerned with restoring range of motion and balance to your spine and pelvis.
As will all our techniques, your X-rays and health history are looked at very closely.
Diversified chiropractic is known as a ‘manual’ technique because no instruments are used for adjustments. This is a hands-on technique.
Pierce-Stillwagon technique
Pierce-Stillwagon is a technique where segments of the adjusting table are gently lowered to allow the spine and pelvis to realign to a more balanced and comfortable position.
This technique focuses on the cervical spine and lower back. Adjustments can be given by hand or with a small instrument.
At Hawthorne Chiropractic we would take X-rays to determine what segment of your spine required adjustment.
Are you looking for a certain chiropractic technique?
If you’ve been to a chiropractor before and prefer to be adjusted in a particular way, let Dr Armitage know. He’d be happy to have a chat to you about your past experiences and see if he can provide you with the chiropractic approach you’re looking for.
